Colossians 3:17
Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
It is so easy to separate life into two categories secular and sacred. This enables us to act a certain way around friends and coworkers during the week but when it comes to church we change into our sacred clothes and put on our sacred faces. I think this is one of the most harmful tendencies we have in the west. I say the west because this is not how it is in other locations around the world. In the west there is the thought that religion should stay within its own box. That God should not be thought about within the realms of politics, economics, and entertainment. Paul's letter to the Colossians makes it clear that for the follower of Christ this is not true. To follow Jesus is not to divide your life but to do everything, whether that be a stock broker or a butcher for the glory of our savor Jesus Christ.
